Hello all, There are still a few spots left in the 4:30-6:30 class on Thurs. Please contact me ASAP if you would like one of these spots.
It's nice to see such a positive article about homeschooling in such a mainstream magazine.

I am copying this to as many unschooling groups as I can find, in order to ask for your collective help.
Here in England, UK, unschooling is very much being threatened, to the point of extinction.
I have created a global petition so we can show our government that homeschoolers around the world are united against this action:

I posted a request several months ago looking for people interested in raising money to build a well in an Indian village. Here is a photo of the finished well. It is quite amazing what little effort it takes to produce such a life changing moment for people on the other side of the world!

Check out the preview of a new documentary film called "The War on Kids". I'm not sure when it will be coming out, but I have ordered an advance copy which I would be happy to lend out. Here is an excerpt from the website:
"While schools act under the authority of the doctrine of 'in loco parentis', where they assume the authority of parent, the interests of children are typically neglected in favor of attempts at establishing order through discipline. Leaving an extensive paper-trail, capricious punishments have greater repercussions on the student's future than at any point in the history of education and, with the introduction of pharmacological abuse, the methodology of repression is more sinister. Increasingly, education is no longer seen as the primary function of school by the administration, teachers, and parents and has fallen a distant second to security. Where academics do come into play, performance is more important than actual learning."
If you have an hour to spare, enjoy the thoughtful and entertaining perspectives of Sir Ken as he talks about his new book The Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything, among other things.
From Suzanne:
I am a home-educating parent in England and I run a French class with my 2 children and 5 of their friends - aged between 8 and 11. I am looking for some pen pals for the children so that they can practice their French. Would this be of any interest to your group? Is there any advice you could offer me? Thank you in advance.
Best wishes,
Suzanne Webb-Thomas
From Gabriel:
I am a journalist for the magazine Reflet de Société. I am actually looking for citizens that would like to share their vision of homeschooling. If you are interested in the experience, you can write to my e-mail or visit this link.
Thank you,
