The NFB offers some really cool two-hour workshops at the CineRobotheque downtown - including video production, animation and claymation! Some are for ages 7+, some are for 9+ or 13+, and the cost is only $6.50 per person!
They will create a workshop just for homeschoolers if we have at least 20 people attending.
We are planning a Halloween party on October 30th in the evening. Details will be announced as soon as they are all worked out...
Meanwhile, we will make a pinata and some decorations for the party during our Thursday gatherings at the Baha'i Centre. Here are the plans so far - (feel free to add your ideas and plans by using the comment feature):

Two experienced science teachers along with Community Schooling would like to offer a Homeschool Science Fair. This would be an event for homeschooled children from all around Montreal, where they enter science projects and others (parents and children alike) are able to see them and marvel at their discoveries.
Our first Thursday indoors at the MAI went really well, but we found the room to be
(1) too small for all of us (we were 30 people! and another 10 were not there exceptionally), and
(2) too loud (hard surfaces reflected every sound and lots of... kids : )
So we brainstormed and tapped into our collective resources and came up with another space already! Josee has contact with the Baha'i Centre on Pine Avenue and they have generously agreed to let us use their bigger space for FREE! We want the decision to involve as many of us as possible, so come on down on Thursday October 9th to check it out...
Tomorrow's weather forecast (chance of rain and a high of 12'C) has me happy that we'll be hanging out indoors at the MAI! That's 3680 Jeanne Mance, room 428.
For our first gathering in this space, I guess we'll play and do as usual, and also make some plans for future Thursdays. I'll bring a pen, paper and calendar, and everyone can bring their ideas!
You can also bring toys and games, as well as food and drink. There is a sound system so feel free to bring some CDs as well. We can leave a bin of stuff there.
There is an article about homeschooling and technology, including this website (!), in this month's Montreal Families magazine. Check it out here.
Many thanks to Kyla for contributing!
Here is a 10 minute movie of the commuter race, which took place at Sept 5th's not-back-to-school picnic. Starring: Rich the biker, Doug the driver, Hanna and Cleus the commuters, and other homeschoolers at the picnic : )

Hello all,
Because we are so much more West, it is too far for us to join in your yoga group so I am sending out an invitation to find out who is interested in doing some family yoga with my son (age 3.5) and I. I have found a teacher in a yoga center in Pointe Claire Village who is willing to offer us a one hour class for a period of 10 weeks. The cost is 150$ per couple (parent and one child) and each additional child is 50$ for the entire session.
