Hi,
We're moving to Montreal in about 6 weeks and I'm looking for recommendations for my 9-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son.
I'm most interested in jiu jitsu, karate (preferably Shotokan), Kindermusik Young Child classes and beginning acoustic guitar. Also, is their a homeschool Girl Guide troop? My daughter is part of a homeschool Girl Scout troop here. Is there a similar group for boys in Montreal? Something like Boy Scouts, but more inclusive?
Thanks,
Jackie

Jackie,
You should be able to find karate instruction in a wide number of locations around Montreal. Shotokan is a popular style in Quebec. When you decide where you want to locate in Montreal, the first place to look would be the local community center or YMCA. There are also a number of private schools. Programs and cost will vary, depending where you go.
Our family does twice weekly classes in Jukaido-Kan Ju-Jutsu. It's a very small, family oriented dojo where kids and adults learn side by side. Kids get lots of individual attention & support. Parents are quite welcome to join the classes too - it's an excellent work-out! Fees are very affordable, and all classes are directly supervised by Shihan Charles Bedard, Jr.
If you'd like more information you can give me a shout at freehold2@yahoo.ca :)
Cheers!

Kindermusik & guitar
Kindermusik - Studio Alleson (NDG, Montreal West & St-Leonard) - (514) 588-7664
Also, the math teacher at Centre Communidée is also a guitar teacher - bradleydoucet AT hotmail.com.
Poke around Montreal Families magazine for more ideas and info.
Good luck with the move!
